WHEREAS, current AMA policy H 240.998 states hospitals should accept payment so that all payers pay their, equitable share, but does not mention ambulatory surgical centers, out patient facilities, diagnostic centers, physicians offices and other health care providers, and

WHEREAS, some healthcare providers and facilities believe it is illegal to offer favorable rates or discounts to self pay patients, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the CMS adopt policy to urge hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, out patient facilities, diagnostic centers, physicians offices and other health care providers to (charge and) accept payment so that all payers pay their equitable share, and be it further

RESOLVED, that the CMS AMA Delegation take this policy to the AMA to amend policy H 240.998 so that it includes all health care providers and facilities.
