WHEREAS, it has become obvious that the current health care "system" is irreparably flawed, and

 

WHEREAS, attempts to fix it incrementally have resulted in:

 

escalating health insurance premiums, pricing millions of people out of the health insurance market place,

 

double digit increases in prescription drugs (Medicare drug cards not withstanding),

 

troubling decreases in physician incomes, especially in primary care, which threaten physician's abilities to accept patients who are uninsured and those insured by Medicaid and Medicare,

 

employers facing huge increases in health care costs, ultimately affecting their profitability, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Colorado Medical Society channel its leadership efforts to encourage, support and work towards reform in the health care arena by supporting a comprehensive financing strategy to cover all Americans.  This strategy must address universal health care coverage for all Americans and fair reimbursement for physicians and hospitals.
