Subject:                      Health Care Service for Colorado Uninsured, Underinsured and the Colorado Indigent Care Patients

WHEREAS, the increased number of patient's in the above categories is increasing at an alarming rate in our state, and

 

WHEREAS, there are progressively fewer sites agreeing to care for these patients because of the lack of adequate State and Federal funding, and

 

WHEREAS, the resources of these sites are becoming over burdened with the care of these patients, and

 

WHEREAS, the continued care of these patient's should be the responsibility of the community where the patients reside, and

 

WHEREAS, there are no physician or institution networks established in their communities to refer these patients, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Colorado Medical Society should create a statewide community network of primary care providers, specialty providers, and institutions willing to provide services to Colorado uninsured, underinsured and indigent care patients, and be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the Colorado Medical Society should actively lobby our legislators to provide the necessary funding to physician's and communities to support this endeavor.
