WHEREAS, councils are an integral part of CMS, and
WHEREAS, physicians who serve on councils usually have valuable expertise related to the issues before the council, and
WHEREAS, because council terms are term limited, CMS often loses exceptional members, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that terms for councils other than the Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs be eliminated and the Bylaws amended as follows:
Chapter VIII Ð Councils and Committees
b. Terms
of Members: Terms of Council
members shall be for two years. Members of Councils specified in this Chapter
and appointed by the President and ratified by the Board of Directors shall
serve terms so arranged that one-half of the number of members of each Council
shall expire each year. The President shall appoint and the Board ratify
members to fill vacancies for any unexpired term. There is no limit on the number of two-year terms a Council
member may serve.
