Revised COPE-1 status report


1. Standardized Contract language was developed and legislation was introduced in the 2006 General Assembly.
2. Dr. Lynn Parry will chair a separate EBM Task Force to study and evaluate the current state of quality measurement and pay-for-performance programs in Colorado. The goal of the task force will be to make recommendations on a cohesive, evidence based approach for the medical society to take in educating members, collaborating with strategic partners and advocating for EBM programs that are clinically driven, peer reviewed, transparent and subject to change based on science.
3. Legislation was introduced by the DOI to codify its interpretation of the Par/Non-Par issue. This bill failed to pass.
4. The issue of establishing local physician advisory boards will be placed on the COPE agenda for the 5/23 meeting.
5. CMS/COPE worked with the county and specialty societies to provide the DOJ with data concerning United's acquisition of PacifiCare. Based on its review the DOJ required the divestiture of PacifiCare business in Boulder.
6. CMS/COPE continues to work with United on the Premium Designation Program through the Physician Advisory Council that was established based on a DOI ruling.
7. The EBM Task Force will work on an operational strategy regarding pay-for-performance programs.
