WHEREAS, physicians and patients typically refer to the office assistant of a physician as a ÒnurseÓ, and
WHEREAS, recent restrictions on the use of the term ÒnurseÓ under Colorado law and regulation needlessly inhibit communication among physicians, office staff and patients, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Colorado Medical Society seek changes in the current laws or regulations in the state of Colorado allowing the use of the word ÒnurseÓ without restriction, provided however that use of the terms ÒRNÓ or ÒRegistered NurseÓ and ÒLPNÓ, ÒPractical NurseÓ or ÒLicensed Practical NurseÓ be restricted to use concerning individuals possessing those specific qualifications under Colorado law.
