Subject:                      Chiropractors and Physical Examinations

WHEREAS, chiropractors are currently allowed to provide physical examinations for high school athletes and for Department of Transportation driving certifications, and

 

WHEREAS, chiropractors are not sufficiently trained and/or experienced in the skills necessary to provide proper examination of the entire person exclusive of the musculoskeletal system, therefore be it    

 

RESOLVED, that an examination of the whole person or patient, for any medically proper or necessary purpose be considered to be the Òpractice of medicineÓ under Colorado law, and be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the Colorado Medical Society seek changes in Colorado law or regulation to properly restrict provision of physical examination services to properly trained physicians licensed as Doctors of Medicine or Osteopathy in Colorado.
