Subject:                           Amend Bylaws - Lodging Expenses for the Vice Speaker of the House

WHEREAS, current Bylaws provide that the cost of lodging for the Speaker of House is paid by the Colorado Medical Society, and

 

WHEREAS, the duties and responsibilities of the Vice Speaker are the same as those of the Speaker, and

 

WHEREAS, it is important to have both individuals in the hotel where CMS meetings are held so they are readily available to work with reference committee members, staff and others to finalize reference committee reports and conduct other business of the House, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Bylaws be amended as follows:

 

Chapter XV – Finances

Section 6.  Expense Reimbursement:  Subject to the provisions of the Bylaws and to the financial condition of the Society at any given time, the Board of Directors may, but shall not be required to, reimburse Officers, and other elective or appointive members of councils and committees for expenses incurred by them in carrying out their official duties; provided, that no member of the Society may be reimbursed for attending any meeting of the whole Society or of the House of Delegates, except that the Speaker AND THE VICE SPEAKER of the House will be reimbursed for the cost of a hotel room at the Interim and Annual meetings and the President and President-elect will be reimbursed for their expenses incurred in the performance of their duties on behalf of the Colorado Medical Society subject to review by the Board of Directors.  The Board may authorize payment of expenses for students and residents.  The Board of Directors is authorized to adjust current and future annual budgets and to take such other action, as it may deem proper in carrying out this policy.
