WHEREAS, the CMS Bylaws grant its Component Societies the right to censure their members, and

 

WHEREAS, the CMS Bylaws provide for censure in the grievance review process, and

 

WHEREAS, the CMS Bylaws do not provide for censure in other circumstances, therefore be it 

 

RESOLVED, that the CMS Bylaws be amended by adding the following:

 

Chapter I – Membership

Section 6

        H.  CENSURE, SUSPENSION OR EXPULSION: THE COUNCIL ON ETHICAL AND JUDICIAL AFFAIRS, AFTER DUE NOTICE AND HEARING MAY CENSURE, SUSPEND OR EXPEL AN ACTIVE CONSTITUENT MEMBER FROM THE COLORADO MEDICAL SOCIETY FOR AN INFRACTION OF THE CONSTITUTION OR THESE BYLAWS, FOR A VIOLATION OF THE PRINCIPLES OF MEDICAL ETHICS, OR FOR UNETHICAL OR ILLEGAL CONDUCT.
