Health System Reform
The passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) by the US Congress has created a new reality for patients and physicians. A new reality that requires ongoing physician participation and leadership to help reshape the broken system as the federal bill is implemented and possibly amended. CMS has pressed the case for health systems reform in Colorado for years and we are committed to working with physicians and patients to find ways to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care for all Coloradans.
At CMS we strive to translate the seismic changes that are occurring across the systems and how they will affect the profession of medicine. The links and resources to the right offer a wealth of information, including a PPACA summary with a crosswalk analysis with CMS policy. Our Practice Evolution Reality Check (PERC) features imporatnt information about health care reform and the impact on the profession of medicine. All of these policies and resources have helped CMS actively engage in a comprehensive strategy on health system reform.
