Denver, CO – The Colorado Medical Society (CMS) – the largest organization of physicians in Colorado, with over 7,000 members across all specialties, regions and practice settings – issued a statement on the Israeli-Hamas war.
The following statement is attributable to CMS President, Omar Mubarak, MD, MBA
"The Colorado Medical Society is deeply saddened by the events that are unfolding in Israel and Gaza. We condemn the attacks committed last Saturday by Hamas as a radical act of terrorism.
As a physician group committed to rendering medical care to all members of society, we are concerned about layering one humanitarian crisis upon another. Children, the elderly, and other civilians in Gaza are without access to food, water, electricity, and medical care with no means of escape.
Our hearts are with all the people in the region, and even after decades of intractable conflict, we refuse to give up the hope for peace. We dream of a day when neither Arab nor Jew has to explain to the next generation why such human suffering is occurring."
The Colorado Medical Society champions health care issues that improve patient care, promote physician professional satisfaction and create healthier communities in Colorado. To learn more about CMS, visit cms.org.
