Retroactively effective to Sept. 1, 2021, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF) authorized a payment of $61.77 for administration of the first two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, $41.18 for additional doses, and an additional $35 for vaccine administration within the member’s home or residence for Health First Colorado Medicaid members.

$61.77 represents a 50 percent increase above Medicare rates, and will help to ensure that financial considerations are not a barrier to providers administering the vaccine to Health First Colorado Medicaid members. The Department sees this as critical given the disparity in vaccine take-up between Medicaid members and the Colorado population as a whole (currently about a 18-26 point gap).
