After reviewing the latest data on the growing rates of hospitalization due to the Delta variant of COVID-19 in Colorado, we have made the tough decision to cancel our in-person activities around the Colorado Medical Society Annual Meeting scheduled for Sept. 17 and move the event entirely virtual.

As representatives of all Colorado physicians, we felt that it could send the wrong message to have a meeting of this nature at the same time that we are working closely with the state to increase vaccination rates and ensure proper public health safety protocols are in place to prevent another critical wave in Colorado. We will reschedule this celebration and opportunity to enjoy the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum for a future meeting.

We are excited, however, to announce that we will use the opportunity to utilize this time that was already on our members’ calendars to host another Town Hall on COVID-19. CDPHE Medical Director Eric France, MD, MPH/MSPH, will present the very latest on the spread of the Delta variant, efforts to ensure every physician has immediate access to the recommended vaccine booster shots, and efforts to combat vaccine hesitancy in Colorado.

This will be followed by a celebration that includes brief remarks about my presidential year and the inauguration of Mark Johnson, MD, MPH, as the newly installed president of the Colorado Medical Society.

We hope that you will join us for this special and important evening, Friday, Sept. 17 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Click here to register now.

Sincerely,

Sami Diab, MD
President, Colorado Medical Society
