In late June, the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI) placed Friday Health Insurance Company into rehabilitation and took control of the company. Then in mid-July, DOI has asked the courts to move Friday Health into liquidation. DOI took this action to protect consumers enrolled in a Friday health plan and to ensure that providers are paid for providing care.

Friday plans in Colorado will terminate on Aug. 31, 2023. As a result, current Friday members will need to sign up for new coverage through a special enrollment period (SEP) through Oct. 31. For more information, view Frequently Asked Questions for consumers.

Doctors, hospitals and other health care providers should still expect to be paid pursuant to their contracts for services they provide to Friday Health members through Aug. 31, 2023. Doctors cannot ask patients with Friday coverage to pay more than the patient's cost share amounts, such as usual co-payment, deductible or coinsurance that are part of a patient's plan, or refuse to bill Friday Health. For more information, view a set of Frequently Asked Questions for providers.

The DOI has set up a special email address for health care providers to contact the DOI with questions and concerns about providing care to Friday members, claims submission, and claims payment. See more information in the FAQ about necessary information to include when contacting the DOI.
