Colorado Chooses Vaccines: As CDC promotes false vaccine claims, Coloradans can still find accurate info
Even as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) promotes false vaccine claims, Coloradans have access to accurate information about vaccine safety and where to get vaccines.
Colorado Chooses Vaccines is deeply concerned by the recent changes to the CDC’s Autism and Vaccines webpage, which now promotes the false claim that vaccines cause autism.
“CDC career scientists did not make the change, and it contradicts more than three decades of research spanning millions of children. That research consistently found that vaccines do not cause autism,” said Dr. David Higgins of the Colorado Chooses Vaccines coalition.
This CDC misinformation comes as both Colorado and the nation are experiencing an increase in vaccine-preventable diseases, including measles, pertussis (whooping cough), and influenza.
Colorado’s health professionals, public-health leaders, policymakers, and community organizations are working together to ensure families receive clear, evidence-based information. Colorado Chooses Vaccines reinforces that work and helps Coloradans navigate a rapidly changing federal vaccine landscape with confidence.
For clear, trustworthy information on vaccine safety, Coloradans can start with Immunize Colorado’s fact sheet and the parent-led Vaccinate Your Family/Autism Science Foundation guide on autism and vaccines.
For information on Colorado respiratory virus trends, a Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment dashboard offers the latest data.
To see vaccine rates at a specific Colorado school, visit the CDPHE College/University, school, and child care immunization data dashboard.
To find vaccine providers across the state, CDPHE compiles a number of resources.
The Colorado Chooses Vaccines coalition is financially supported by Rose Community Foundation’s Colorado Vaccine Access Fund. To learn more or donate in support of this work, please visit www.covaccineaccessfund.org.
