Walk With a Doc: Strengthening Health, Connection and Trust Across Colorado
Colorado physicians are finding a simple but powerful way to connect with their communities: taking a walk.
Walk with a Doc is a nonprofit organization that inspires healthier communities through movement, conversation, and connection. The program helps local healthcare providers launch free community walking groups that combine health education, physical activity, social engagement, and time outdoors.
Each monthly event begins with a brief discussion on a health topic, followed by a walk with participants. The format creates an informal, welcoming environment where community members can learn from healthcare professionals, ask questions, and build relationships outside the clinical setting.
Just as importantly, Walk with a Doc helps strengthen trust between physicians and patients—an important goal of the Colorado Medical Society and American Medical Association’s Your Care is at Our Core campaign. By creating opportunities for meaningful conversations and personal connections, these walks help reinforce the physician-patient relationship that is at the heart of high-quality care.
