An introduction to CMS advocacy
Your voice at the Capitol, in the regulatory arena and beyond
As we continue your welcome to the Colorado Medical Society, this week we’re highlighting one of the most important things we do for you — advocacy. Our strength comes from the involvement of passionate physicians like you who believe in shaping the future of medicine in Colorado.
Together, CMS staff, lobbyists, outside counsel, and physician volunteers ensure that your voice is heard in the public policy arena — with legislators, regulators, the media, health plans, and the broader patient community.
The 2026 legislative session will be an important one, with the Medical Practice Act up for review and potential challenges to scope of practice and professional review on the horizon. CMS works year-round to protect physicians and patients — building relationships with policymakers, crafting sound legislation, and standing up for the integrity of medical practice.
Our advocacy is only as strong as the physicians behind it — and there’s a place for every member to get involved. Some physicians enjoy testifying before committees or debating policy with peers at our Council on Legislation meetings. Others contribute through strategic giving or staying informed through our legislative updates.
Use the options below to shape how you engage in advocacy through CMS:

- Tailor my advocacy involvement
- Opt-in to Insiders’ Edge weekly e-newsletter during session
