Finding your voice in organized medicine
Get involved. Shape policy. Build community.
We’re so thankful you’ve joined more than 6,200 Colorado physicians and medical students as a member of the Colorado Medical Society. It’s through our members that we make a real difference for the profession — and for patients.
At CMS, your voice drives change. One of the most powerful ways to get involved is through Central Line, our virtual engagement platform that connects members directly to the CMS policymaking process.
Here’s how it works:
- Any member can draft and submit a policy idea that could benefit Colorado physicians or patients.
- The proposal is reviewed by CMS staff and shared with physicians who have self-identified expertise in that policy area for input and voting.
- Next, all members have the opportunity to review and vote before the CMS Board of Directors makes a final decision — ensuring that every voice is heard.
Beyond policymaking, there are many ways to get involved and connect with colleagues:
- Join a CMS council, committee, task force or work group — all are open to attend, and most meet virtually to make participation easy.
- Get involved in our new mentorship and coaching program launching in 2026, designed to help physicians at all stages of their careers learn from one another.
- Speak to medical students or residents at events like White Coat Wisdom or Day at the Capitol to help shape the next generation of Colorado physicians.
Whatever your passion — advocacy, education, leadership or community — there’s a place for you in CMS.
If you have questions about how to get involved, contact Kate Alfano, CMS Director of Member Engagement, at kate_alfano@cms.org or reach us anytime at membership@cms.org.
Thank you again for being part of the Colorado Medical Society — where your voice, ideas and leadership truly make a difference.
